“The Shoemaker's Son”

Description

"Young Jimmy was a shoemaker's son, And through this country his bread he won. Her father was of high degree, He was captain over some ships on the sea."

Notes

This is clearly a fragment of a longer ballad (probably telling of the father's opposition to the young people's marriage), but without a longer version, we can't tell much about it. - RBW
