“Sucking Cider through a Straw”

Description

"The prettiest girl that I ever saw Was sucking cider through a straw." "I told that gal I didn't see how She sucked the cider through a straw." "And now I've got me a mother-in-law From sucking cider through a straw."

Notes

The 1919 publication gives the name as "Sipping Cider thru' a Straw." Curiously, Sandburg, writing no later than 1927, did not seem to know of this -- implying that this was originally "folk" rather than pop. - RBW
