“How Can I Keep from Singing”

Description

"My life flows on in endless song Above earth's lamentation... It sounds an echo in my soul, How can I keep from singing." The singer notes all the troubles swirling around, but refuses to be influences by such things

Notes

This song has become popular in folk revival circles in recent years, but is originally the work of the Society of Friends (Quakers). One wonders how many of the singers realize that it is a celebration of the doctrine of placing the individual conscience ahead of society's rules and Biblical teachings. - RBW
