“Defenders' Song”

Description

"Arise, ye sons of liberty, awake out of your slumber." United defenders must "plant the tree of liberty" in Ireland. Follow the examples of America and France. "The harp and shamrock will unite, when tyrants are no more"

Notes

For more about the Defenders, who spread starting around 1790 in response to the Protestant Peep o' Day boys, see e.g. the notes to "Bold McDermott Roe," "The Banished Defender," and "The Noble Ribbon Boys." - RBW
